Beverly Gustafson McKay, 86, of Hamilton, NY passed away due to COVID-19 on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at the Crouse Community Center in Morrisville.
She was born December 23, 1934 in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of Raymond and Martha Lundine Gustafson. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School in 1952 and the University at Albany in 1955. She received her Masters’ degree at Colgate University in 1979. Bev retired as a professor at Morrisville State College where she served as Chair of the Office Technology Department. She also taught at Fleischmanns, Hamilton and Morrisville-Eaton High Schools.
Bev was a member of St. Thomas’ Church and its Altar Guild; a volunteer with Literacy Volunteers (ESL), and at Worn Again. A weaver of traditional designs from her Swedish heritage, she was a member of the Foothills Fiber Arts Group and of the former Onondaga Womens’ Guild.
Bev married David McKay on January 22, 1955 in Jamestown. He predeceased her on July 14, 2020.
She is survived by her children, and their spouses, Mark (Patricia) McKay of Albany; Karen (Mike) Burns of Watertown; Anne (Jay Johnson) McKay of Detroit Lakes, MN; Kirk (Anne) McKay of Silver Spring, MD. She is also survived by grandchildren, Meghan McKay and Kelly McKay, Brittany Burns (Will) Griffin and Greg Burns, Thressa and Montana Johnson. She was predeceased by a brother, David Gustafson.
There will be no calling hours. A committal service will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Thomas’ Memorial Garden.
