WATERVILLE: Beverly Arlene (Mallozzi) Bala, 88, formerly of Utica and Schuyler, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2019 at the Waterville Residential Care Center.
She was born July 24, 1931 in the Town of Sangerfield, a daughter of Floyd A. and Ethel Dora Owens Cook and was a graduate of Waterville High School. She had been married to Albert L. Mallozzi, and later married James F. Bala who predeceased her on January 8, 1997. Beverly was a beautician, operating a shop in her home in Utica for many years. She had also lived in Lakeland, FL for 30 years until moving back to Waterville a few years ago. She was an amazing person who had the inner strength to survive cancer twice, the first time at the young age of 17. She was a talented and gifted seamstress and artist who made many gifts for friends and family. She also enjoyed playing BINGO and knitting.
Beverly was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Lakeland, FL and the American Legion Auxiliary in Lakeland.
Surviving are her sons, Leonard Mallozzi of Bath, NY and David Mallozzi of Utica; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Joseph Barbano of Sherrill; Joanne and Stanley Hughes of FL; brother and sister-in-law, James and Joan Cook of Waterville; half-brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Patricia Cannon, Andrew and Janice Cannon, all of TX; a half-sister, Barbara Timian of TX; grandchildren, Elisha Mallozzi; Michael (Jill) Mallozzi; Nicholas (Lisha) Mallozzi; David Mallozzi, Delaney Mallozzi; Amorette Cavanaugh Bridgeport; Vincent Mallozzi, Frank Mallozzi; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Gerald and Mark Mallozzi, a daughter, Patricia Mallozzi, and an infant sister, Betty Jean Cook.
Memorial Services will be held at 11am Friday, November 1, 2019 at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home (Kloster & Northrop Memorial Chapel), 210 E. Main St., Waterville.
Interment will be in the Stockwell Cemetery.
