Cordelia A. “Corde” Cossitt, 83, of Camden, formerly of Hamilton and Boonville, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022, peacefully at her home with family and her “Little Loosey” by her side.
Corde was born in Augusta, on July 23, 1939, the daughter of Charles Sr. and Anna Martin DesJardins and was a 1957 graduate of Madison High School. On October 19, 1957, Corde married Robert Cossitt in Augusta. They shared a loving union of over 60 years until he predeceased her on March 24, 2018. Bob and Corde co-owned Cossitt Motor Express in Hamilton and following their retirement, moved to Boonville where they owned and operated the Red Carpet Skateway from 1980 to 1989.
The final business endeavor was their favorite, having first begun as a hobby, Red Carpet Antiques in Hamilton, lead them to enjoy auctions and the annual Bouckville Antique Fair. Corde and Bob were among the snowbird community of retirees that would head south to Bunnell, FL every year, where they enjoyed an active social life with the other residents of the Holiday Travel Park. Corde loved going to antique shows, and enjoyed motorsports, especially NASCAR, drag racing and car shows. She was an avid animal lover as well as caring and cooking for the people she loved.
Surviving are her children, Linda Cossitt of Gastonia, NC and Steven Cossitt of Earlville; grandchildren, Desiree Cossitt-Davis (fiancé, Troy Liebi) of Camden; Casey (Desiree) Cossitt-Yager of Hamilton; Sydney Cossitt of Gastonia, NC; Steven (Emily) Cossitt, II of Georgetown; and Daniel Cossitt of DeRuyter; great-grandchildren, Parker Davis of Camden, Hadley and Kenley Cossitt-Yager of Hamilton, Violet and Alexandria Cossitt of Georgetown; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles DesJardins, Jr. of CA; Louie and Lois DesJardins of Munnsville; Joe DesJardins of Floyd; Ina DesJardins of Morrisville; a sister and brother-in-law, Nora and Stuart Link of Hubbardsville; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Tommy and Daniel DesJardins; great-grandson, Michael Cossitt and grandson-in-law, Jeromie Davis.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Thursday, September 15, 2022 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton, NY, followed by interment in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Hamilton.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8pm and Thursday from 1-2pm prior to the service.
