David Allen Burt, 42, of Bradley Brook Rd., Eaton, NY, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2022 at his home with the affection and love of his family around him.
He was born on September 22, 1979 in Elmira, NY a son of Harry and Christine Aronstam Burt. He was a 1997 graduate of Southside High School in Elmira and SUNY, Morrisville 1999. On September 8, 2015 David married Heidi R. (Prentice) Smith at their home in Eaton. He had worked for the Town of Smithfield Highway Department; the Curtin Dairy in Clockville; NYS Waste Water Management in Chemung County and the Village of Watkins Glen where he was the supervisor. He also owned and operated his dairy farm, Burt Farm.
David enjoyed hunting and working on his 1976 Super Dodge Power Wagon truck. Cutting wood was a favorite pastime that he and his family enjoyed doing together.
He served the communities he lived in as a member of various fire departments. He started in fire service at the Webbs Mills Volunteer Fire Department at the age of 16 where he served for 10 years until moving from the area.
Surviving are his wife, Heidi; his mother and step-father, Christine and William “Bill” Pedrick, of Elmira; mother-in-law, Helene Smith of Eaton; children, Ashlee Prentice (fiancé Ryan Jones) of Hamilton; Timothy Prentice, Aimee Prentice (Dominic Stith), Dylan Prentice, all of Eaton; sister, Danielle (Rob) Pedrick of Elmira; brothers, Christopher (Annette) Pedrick of Elmira; Dana Burt (fiancée Julie Stone) of Silverdale, WA; grandchildren, Colton, Cooper and Crew Jones; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Harry Burt.
Friends are invited to call at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 2369 W. Lake Moraine Rd., Hamilton, NY on Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 11am to 1pm followed at 1pm by the funeral service. A gathering to celebrate Dave’s life will follow the service at Dave and Heidi’s home.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
