GARY R. GRAHAM
SMYRNA: Gary R. Graham, 71, of County Road 21, passed away Saturday,
December 14, 2019 at his home.
He was born July 26, 1948 in Norwich, a son of Samuel and Betty Mack Graham. He received his early education in the Smyrna school and was a graduate of Sherburne High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict from 1967 until his honorable discharge in 1971. On January 1, 1972, Gary married Nancy Monroe in Sherburne. She predeceased him on February 12, 2008. He married Shelly L. Mac Blain on August 20, 2010 in Smyrna. For 30 years, Gary was the Highway Superintendent for the Town of Smyrna. He was a dedicated member of the Smyrna Fire Department where he served as Vice President, Assistant Chief and Chief. He was also a former member of the Smyrna Emergency Squad.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Eric J. and Rebecca Graham of Smyrna; sisters, Sharon Chrisbacher and Kathleen (Lee) Ingraham, of Smyrna brothers, David (Gina) Graham, Robert (Pattie) Graham, Timothy (Amy) Graham, all of Smyrna; step-children, Christopher (Angela) Montgomery of S. New Berlin; Cory (Tara) Montgomery of Norwich; Chad (Megan) Montgomery of New Berlin; and Vincent Montgomery of S. New Berlin; grandchildren, Lukas Graham; Sandler, Leland, Saige, Collin, Nolah, Emma, David, Archer and Abigail Montgomery; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his special friends, Rich Baker, Becky Bliss, Kent and Bonnie Blanchard, John and Connie Selinsky, Cindy and Jimmy Hinckley. He was predeceased by a sister, Judith Symonds; brothers, Michael and Kenneth Graham; and a brother-in-law, John Chrisbacher.
Funeral services with military honors will be held 2pm Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
Interment will be in Willcox Cemetery at the convenience of his family.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11am to 2pm prior to the service.
A reception at the Smyrna Fire Hall will follow the service.
