Greta J. Charboneau

Greta J. Charboneau, 96, of Oriskany Falls, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022, at the MVHS Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Greta was born on June 21, 1926, in Norway to the late Mangor and Clara (Syversten) Bjørnstad. Greta met her husband, John Charboneau, while he was stationed in Norway, and they were united in marriage in 1945 until his passing in 2003. She received her education in Olso, Norway, where she also worked as a hairdresser.

Greta enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and loved to go shopping. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society in Madison.

Greta is survived by her daughters; Karen and Herbert Carney, Joann Charboneau and Michael McPherson, of Oriskany Falls, grandchildren; Maryann Carney, Tracey and Steven Misiaszek, Shawn Fuess and fiancé, Sara Reale, Ryan and Grace Fuess and several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Janet Fuess and brothers; Odd and Bjorn Bjørnstad.

In keeping with Greta’s wishes, there will be no services. Internment in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Oriskany Falls will be private at the convenience of the family.

The family would like to thank the staff at MVHS Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation for their kindness and caring shown to Greta.
