Helena D. "Poochie" Hughes

Helena D. “Poochie”  Hughes, 73, of Division St., Cleveland, NY, passed away October 18, 2022 at her home.

She was born in Syracuse, on August 9, 1949, a daughter of Lawrence and Helena Cicalack Smith and was a graduate of Cazenovia High School. She married Alyn S. Hughes in Bouckville, NY. Helena was an antique dealer at the Canal House Antiques and later, at Country Walk Antique Market. She enjoyed painting folk art. She was a marvelous cook and loved to entertain family and friends. She loved being near the lake and fishing.

Surviving are her husband, Alyn; her children, Edward J. Wyss of Cleveland; Patrick B. Wyss (Stacey Dailey) of Earlville; grandchildren, Zachary Wyss and Hayden Wyss; a sister and brother-in-law, Frances and David DePuy of Kingman, AZ. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert McConnell.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm Thursday, October 27, 2022 at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton, NY, followed by interment in the Madison Village Cemetery, Madison, NY.

Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 12pm-2pm prior to the service.
