Herbert F. Caldwell

Herbert F. Caldwell, 83, of County Road 32, Norwich, NY, passed away March 14, 2022 at the Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, NY.

He was born on September 18, 1938 in Herkimer, NY, one of 20 children of Earl and Fannie Roby Caldwell and he received his education in Poland and Herkimer schools. On September 18, 1998, Herbert married Suzanne M. Burlison on the family homestead in Norwich. She predeceased him on April 19, 2015. Herb owned Oxford Silo Construction, and then worked for J&J Alishauskas, Inc. in Norwich until retiring. In his leisure times he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Surviving are his children, Roberta (Aaron) Lanfair, Norwich; Sandra Gates, Ohio, NY; Earl Caldwell, FL; Herbert (Sylvia) Caldwell, Jr, FL; Gidget (Mike) Muzzy, AuSable Forks; Rebecca (David) Carpenter, Fort Plain; Frank Caldwell, Albany; Jeramy (Bobbi-Jo) Caldwell, Killawog; Heather (Andrew) Jackson, Norwich; Ellie (Aaron) Schrott, TX; sisters, Blanche Anna, Vernon; Rosie (Charlie) Burns, Cold Brook; sister-in-law, Patricia Caldwell, Cold Brook; grandchildren, David, Tina, Jason, Lance, Crystal, Earlene, Dorothy, Earl, Kenneth, Amanda, Brittany, Nathaniel, William, Elizabeth, Zoey, Joseph, Amber, Tyla, Tiana, Haleigh, Chandler, Annaliese, Dannica and Austin, Cadence; great-grandchildren, Pearl, Amber, Alexis, Avery, Emalina, Boe, Mila, Lucas, Caleb, Jace, Relyn, Addison, Alexander and Jaxon; and others; many, many, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant son, Herbert Allen; a grandson, Keegan, and a son-in-law, Arthur Gates.

Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 3 Preston St., Earlville on Sunday, March 20, 2022 from 2-4pm, immediately followed by a memorial service at 4pm.

Interment will be at a later date in the Earlville Cemetery, Earlville, NY.
