Herbert S. Bigford, 63, of 441 Bingham-Collins Rd., Sherburne, NY, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2021 at the Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Williamsville, NY.
He was born on September 19, 1957 in Hamilton, NY, a son of Herbert L. and Clora M. Bachicha Bigford. A lifelong Sherburne resident, Herb was a graduate of Sherburne-Earlville High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from 1976 until his honorable discharge in 1979. On August 28, 1993, Herb married Susan R. Crandall in Norwich, NY. Most recently, he worked for MLT Mobile Life Transport in Sherburne until retiring. He had previously worked for the Town of Lebanon Highway Department. Herb also owned and operated Hilltop Signs. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening and camping. He and his son, Tyler, also participated in motocross racing for 18 years.
Surviving are his beloved wife of over 27 years, Sue; his father, Herbert Bigford of Sherburne; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Chris and Kelly Bigford of Marlboro, NY and Tyler Bigford of Sherburne; a sister and brother-in-law, Charleen and Timothy Llewellyn of North Norwich; a brother, Peter Bigford of Columbus; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was an animal lover and is also survived by his three canine companions, Max, Sadie and Tucker. Herb was predeceased by his mother, Clora Bigford on December 10, 2020.
A Celebration of his life will be held at his home on Saturday, July 17, 2021 starting at 2pm.
