James J. Morrissey, 63, of Callahan Dr., Morrisville, NY, passed away Friday, November 29, 2013 at Upstate University Hospital, Syracuse.
He was born July 11, 1950 in New Britain, CT, a son of John and Nancy Hanauer Pomeranke, and was later adopted by his grandparents, John and Josephine Fox Morrissey. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, honorably discharged in February 1971. James married Brenda Siering in Meriden, CT on May 18, 2002. Jim had worked for a variety of companies, including Pep Boys and Cooper Instruments in Middlefield, CT, and was known as a “Jack of all trades”. He enjoyed fishing, drawing and reading the Bible. He was an avid fan of the Three Stooges and loved eating cookies.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda; his children, Melissa and Phil Lewis of New Britain, CT; James and Mary Grace Morrissey of CA; his siblings, Edith Georgiadis and Josephine Haberern, New Britain, CT; John Morrissey, Jr., Swanzey, NH; Marcy Olis, RI; Charles Fagan, TN; Josephine Fagan and Madeline Fagan, Detroit, MI; Thomas Hanauer and Nancy Gene Hanauer; three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his life-long friends, Rick Deprey, CT; and Bob Mitchell, Morrisville. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald Pearson, and a sister, Sharon Zysk Fagan.
Memorial services will be held at 11am Tuesday, December 10, 2013 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 31 Cedar St., Morrisville.
