Jean C. Gillette, 84, of Owego, NY passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at her home.
She was born August 29, 1936 in Poughkeepsie, NY, a daughter of the late William and Jean Balcanqual Cooke. She was a graduate of Flushing-Queens High School and furthered her education in secretarial studies. On June 4, 1955, Jean married William E. Gillette in Bayside, LI, NY. In 1974, Jean and William, with their 6 children moved to Sherburne where they made their home and lived for many years. Jean was a secretary for the NYS Department of Corrections at Camp Pharsalia and then for SUNY, Morrisville until retiring. She enjoyed several hobbies including knitting, crocheting, and reading.
Surviving are her children: Allan Gillette and wife Joyce of Nottingham, NH; Kevin Gillette and wife Gail of Owego; Russell Gillette and wife Janice of Apalachin; Scott Gillette and companion Brenda of Crosby,TX; Lisa(Gillette)Whyte and husband Ken of Chateaugay,NY and Florissant, MO; William Gillette Jr. and wife Dana of Peyton,CO, 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She took great pride in her family and celebrating every new addition. She was predeceased by her husband William E. Gillette and a sister, Edith Linzmeyer.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne on Wednesday, December 16, from Noon until 2pm. In accordance with CDC regulations concerning the current health issues, masks are required.
Services and interment will be private.
