JoAnn (Eaton) Ezick passed away peacefully surrounded by family early Saturday morning, December 4, 2021 at the Schuyler Ridge Residence in Clifton Park, NY at the age of 86.
JoAnn was born in Hubbardsville N.Y. to Angie (Tuttle) and Frederick W. Eaton. She graduated from Hamilton High School in 1952 and SUNY Plattsburgh in 1956 with a B.A. in Home Economics. She completed her Master’s degree in education from SUNY Oneonta. Joann was predeceased by her husband Edwin J. Ezick in 1993, whom she married June 30,1954.
JoAnn was the loving mother of Lauri (Paul) Chartier of Tupper Lake NY, Linda Hopson of Norwich NY, and Julie (Dominick) Audi of Malta NY. She will also be missed by her grandchildren: Brooke (Adam) Boudreau, Eve (Jamie) Frenette all of Tupper Lake NY, Allainda Hopson of Deer Park NY, Zena Viele of Oxford NY, Kerzia (Ryan) Marchant of Jamesville NY, Van (Mahreana) Hopson of Middletown CT., Michael Audi of Nashville TN, Lauren Audi of Brooklyn NY and Lucas Audi of Malta NY; her great-grandchildren, who referred to her as “GG”, Ronwyn and Quincy Boudreau, Dawson Viele, Gavin Goodstein, and Roman Hopson. JoAnn leaves behind her brother Darrell Eaton and his wife June of Hubbardsville, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
JoAnn taught Home Economics in several school districts Retiring from the Norwich City School District in 1990. She was a highly competent seamstress, quilter and painter of ceramics and wood. She was a 4-H leader when her children were young and taught Sunday School. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. In her later years she was secretary for the Rosary Society at St. Malachy. Her grandchildren brought her great joy. Each holiday the family would gather in Sherburne and enjoy not only Grandma’s great meals but also her teaching of painting, crafting or gingerbread house making. She loved having her family around her and visited each at their homes regularly.
The family will be receiving friends at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne on December 11, 2021 from 9:00-10:30am followed by the celebration of a Memorial Mass at St. Malachy Church at 11:00am. Interment at the West Hill Cemetery will be private.
