DEANSBORO: Kathleen M. “Susie” Hughes, 80, of West Hill Rd., passed away December 2, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Sangerfield, NY on December 2, 1941, a daughter of Clifford and Mary Boback Olmstead. She graduated from Oriskany Falls High School and attended business school. On July 25, 1960 Kathleen married Peter Hughes in Morrisville, NY, a loving union of over 61 years. She had worked at Sears-Roebuck in New Hartford, as a clerk at a news and book agency in Leominster, MA and was a cook at a Templeton, MA convenience store. Kathleen was an avid reader, enjoyed crafting, playing BINGO at the Turning Stone and loved camping. She was a member of the North Leominster Congregational Church.
Surviving are her loving husband, Peter; daughters, Lori A. Hughes Frankfort; Mary C. (Verne) Hillman of Gardner, MA; sisters, Joanne (Dick) Billings, Donna (Jim) Dowd, all of Oriskany Falls; brother, Stewart (Sue) Olmstead of Deansboro; her beloved grandchildren, Jennifer N. Hillman of Springville, NY; Deanna C. (Alex) Biley of Syracuse; Sarah Hillman of CO; Jackson Hillman of Gardner, MA; great-grandchildren, Danny and Damian Le, and Bailey Hillman. Two sisters in law; Mrs. Dawn Olmstead of Clinton, Mrs. Pam Olmstead of Louisville, KY, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Michael Hughes and three brothers, Ralph, Rudolph “Allen” and Gerald Olmstead.
Private services will be held at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville, NY at the convenience of her family.
There will be no calling hours.
