Larry G. Parkhurst

Larry G. Parkhurst, 80, lifelong Georgetown resident, passed away Monday, April 12, 2021. He was born in Georgetown on October 9, 1940, the son of Lewis and Gladys Chapman Parkhurst. He was a graduate of Georgetown Central School and Syracuse Barber School. Larry operated Larry’s Barber Shop in Morrisville for 55 years, retiring December 31, 2019. On October 5, 1963, he married Ann Upham in Georgetown.
Larry was a past member of the Georgetown Fire Department and Emergency Squad, and a member of the Methodist and Baptist churches. He was vice-president of the Hillside Cemetery Association. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed golfing. He also bowled for many years and sponsored a team “Larry’s Barber Shop”. He loved spending time outside, taking leisurely rides with Ann in their antique cars, mowing lawn with the Ferris, cutting wood, listening to “Willie’s Roadhouse”, polka music on Mollie B’s Polka Party, having fires in the den and going to breakfast. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his two grandsons.
He is survived by his wife, Ann, of 57 years; a son, Alan, a daughter, Diane (Harold) Comfort; two grandsons, Olin and Erie Comfort; a niece, Donna (Clay) Halbert; a nephew, Donnie (Louise) Perry; and his extended family, the VanVoorhis. He was predeceased by a sister, Betty Parkhurst Perry in August 2020.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton, NY on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 4-7pm.
Graveside services and burial in the Hillside Cemetery, Georgetown will be private at the convenience of his family.
