Leatrice (Lee) Chase, 87, of Earlville, NY passed away May 11, 2022. Born the eldest of 8 on September 8, 1934, to Carl & Ida (Borst) Hatton, Lee attended schools in Norwich, NY. On September 20, 1952, she married Russell Chase and they enjoyed 69 years of marriage. Lee and Russ settled in Earlville in 1956 and are still in the same home. Together, they have three children, Lynn Ann Williams of Cazenovia, Calvin (Ann) Chase of Morrisville and Paula (Steve) Brown of West Eaton, along with 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Shirley Reigles, Curtis Hatton, Elaine Mason, Wilson Hatton and Roger Hatton. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Mike Williams, Sr.; brothers, Henry Hatton and William Hatton; sister-in-law Brenda Hatton and brother-in-law Lee (Joe) Mason.
Lee was a Stanley Home Products dealer doing in-home parties for 57 years. Lee gave of herself to everyone she met. In September 1957, she joined the Earlville Firemen’s Auxiliary and became a life-time member. She was involved in many areas of the community including helping at the Earlville Firemen’s Field Days, marching in Firemen’s parades and serving in many ways at the EFD Pancake Breakfasts. She served many meals with the different programs over the years including the Earlville food cupboard, Food Sense and Friendship Inn. The Earlville Senior Citizens will remember her for the weekly Bingo games. She especially enjoyed working with the folks at the Earlville Bargain Basket.
In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite charity or take your family out for an ice cream. She and Russ have been having ice cream after their nightly meal for many years.
Friends are invited to call on Friday, May 20th from 2-4 at the Earlville Pavilion on Fayette Street, beside the old school bus garage, followed by a service at 4pm. Burial will be private at a later date.
