Lewis “Luey” J. Campbell, 65, of State Highway 8, New Berlin, NY, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Luey was born September 24, 1953 in Sherburne, a son of Arthur and Arlene (Russell) Campbell and was a 1972 graduate of Sherburne High School. He enjoyed a very successful career as a multi-talented technician for Proctor & Gamble and Alvogen in North Carolina and Norwich. Luey was a dedicated member of the North Norwich Fire Department where he had served as Chief. For his years of service and devotion to the fire department, he was awarded a Lifetime Membership. On July 5, 2008, Luey and his beloved Sandra were joined in marriage in New Berlin. Their love for each other is unsurpassed and is a true miracle. Luey was a jovial, warm, kind and loving man. He found great joy in life and loved to make others laugh. His happiest times were spent on his motorcycle, at car shows with his 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS, camping with family and friends, sitting around a campfire and spending time with loved ones at the Outer Banks. Luey will be deeply missed by all. His spirit surrounds us and will forevermore.
Surviving Luey are his wife, Sandra; his children, Jill (Scott) Bennett of North Norwich; Chad (Kesha) Campbell of Sherburne; Caleb Harter of Deland, FL; his sisters, Carol Cummings of Sherburne; Sharon (Jim) Hool of FL; Arlene Penner (Eric Gorton) of Madison; Sandy Turner of Bloomfield; brothers, Dave (Linda) Campbell of OH; Tim (Brenda) Campbell of Earlville.
