Linda Sciarretta

November 11, 1953 — March 26, 2016

WATERVILLE, NY: Linda J. Sciarretta, 62, of Barton Ave., passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford, NY.
She was born November 11, 1953 in Ilion, NY, a daughter of the late Robert N. and Jean M. (Johnson) Harmon. She was a graduate of Hamilton (NY) High School, SUNY, Morrisville, NY and St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing, Utica, NY where she received her LPN degree. Linda had worked at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare.
Linda was a woman with a strong faith, and a devotion to her family and friends. She created an even stronger faith amongst her family and friends with her fight against some of life’s worst ills. We feel an even stronger connection now with the faith she believed in by passing these beliefs with her sons, Matthew and John Sciarretta. Everywhere we look in life, words have many meanings. Easter, to us now, is truly about resurrection and forgiveness, no matter what. Linda was a lector at St. Bernard’s Church in Waterville, as well as St. Anthony of Padua in New Jersey for many years.
Linda was really looking forward to this Easter celebration with her grandkids, Joseph (3) and Anastasia (4). In her twenty years in Hammonton, NJ, she perfected many of the regional recipes and she really did spend the last few weeks of her life appreciating every bite of her meal that she fought the pain to cook for herself. She was very tough, and as sweet as she was, she fought life’s worst illnesses until her last breath. She had a true love for all her family and friends.
Linda was predeceased by her loving parents, Bob and Jean Harmon and her oldest sister, “infant Marion”. She is survived by her two sons, Matthew and John; grandchildren, Anastasia and Joseph; her three sisters, Diane, Dina and Luann; her nephews and nieces, Sam, Ted, Audrey, her Godson, Jordan, Bob, Emma and Eli. Also surviving are her extended family and many cousins.
During her last days, she had by her side, her two sons and a lifelong friend, Betty Miranda. Until we meet again, we love you, Mom. The good memories will last forever. Thank you.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1pm Friday, April 1, 2016 from St. Bernard’s Church, 199 Stafford Ave., Waterville, NY, followed by interment in West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne, NY.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home (Kloster & Northrop Memorial Chapel) 210 East Main St., Waterville on Friday April 1, 2016, from 10am to 12:30pm, followed by a short prayer service.
