Loretta C. Gaines, 78, formerly of New York City, passed away November 29, 2020 at the Waterville Residential Center, Waterville, NY.
She was born in Alabama and was raised in New York City, graduating from a local high school. Loretta was a social worker for the Department of Mental Health in the Bronx, NY until retiring. She was a talented singer and passed on her joy of singing to her family. Loretta felt that her love of the Lord started at home and was with her for her entire life.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her son, James Gaines; her grandchildren, Krystle, Jarius, Serenity and Amare Gaines; great-grandchildren, Adrian, Jada, Owen and Kyra; a sister, Dawn Duport and a brother, Raymond Duport; two aunts, Shirley Hood and Alma Dew; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private memorial service for Loretta will be held at 2pm on Thursday, December 3, 2020 from the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Hamilton, NY.
