LUTHER W. McWHERTER
SHERBURNE: Luther W. McWherter, 87, of Church Hill Rd., passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018, at his home.
He was born June 5, 1931, a son of the late Arron and Minnie Chapman McWherter. He was a graduate of Binghamton College. Luther was an accountant who spent 70 years preparing income taxes before his retirement in 2017. He also helped start Joe & Vinney’s Pizzeria in Sherburne and the Bida Home in Oxford. He was previously married to Gloria Bacon.
Luther truly enjoyed playing video games and taught every one of his grandchildren how to play them.
He is survived by his daughters Linda Layton of Brooksville, FL and Barbara (James) Cossette of Sherburne; 15 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. He is predeceased by a sister, Jennie Hotaling and an infant brother.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
