OXFORD: M. Patricia “Pat” Martin, 96, formerly of the Sherburne/Earlville area, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the home of her daughter, Gail.
She was born October 12, 1922 in Tarrytown, NY, a daughter of Earl and Marguerite Virrill Temple. She was a graduate of Ossining High School and a business school. Patricia married John R. “Jock” Martin, II who predeceased her on November 24, 1984. Pat was the administrative assistant at St. Mary’s Church in Hamilton until retiring. In earlier years, she had lived in Chappaqua, NY and Montrose, PA where she had been a nursery school teacher. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Pat was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Hamilton. She was a talented artist and a member of the Sherburne Art Society; a former member of the Montrose, PA Garden Club and a former member and officer of the Montrose School District PTA.
Surviving are her children, Terry and Bob Warriner of Montrose, PA; Peggy Bennett of Maple Heights, OH; John R., III and Donna Martin of Port Orchard, WA; Gail Murphy of Oxford; Wilma Katherine Schuler of Pittstown, PA; Joseph and Linda Martin of Chittenango; Paula and Ray Gniazdowski of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; Ronald Matthew Martin of Toledo, OH; a brother, Paul Temple of Gladstone, MO; sisters, Jean Goewey of Cortland Manor; Terry and Phil Barrett of Morgan Hills, CA; Celine and Charles Breitenbach, Tarrytown, NY; 28 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Temple.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1-2pm prior to the service.
Spring interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hamilton.
