Margaret A. LaPera

Margaret A. LaPera, 74, of State Highway 80, Sherburne, NY, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich.
She was born on November 2, 1944 in Afton, NY, a daughter of John Leonard and Ella Wright Owen. She was a graduate of Bainbridge-Guilford High School and attended Mildred Elliott Business School in Albany. On September 8, 1991, Margaret married William A. LaPera in North Norwich. He predeceased her on March 30, 2007. Margaret had worked as an operator at AT&T, a secretary at NBT Bank, and later as a clerk at NY Central Mutual Insurance. Above all, she was a homemaker devoted to caring for her family.
Margaret was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sherburne where she had been a Sunday school teacher. She had also been a 4-H leader and taught cooking classes. She enjoyed riding her bike and visiting with friends.
Surviving are her daughters, Vivian (Dewitt) Yarnall of Norwich; Tammy M. Boise (Corey Moore) of Smyrna; Cristy L. Darrow (Brian Anderson) of Middletown, NY; two sisters, Joyce (John) Knapp of Guilford; and Lois of FL; and grandson, Tyler Graham of Smyrna.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Monday, December 10, 2018 at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, followed by interment in the Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday from 11am to 1pm prior to the service.
