Mary Louise Crouch, 91, of Hamilton St., Hamilton, NY, passed away on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at the Waterville Residential Care Center. She was born August 19, 1930, in Utica, a daughter of the late Michael J. and Helen Louise Chambers Sacco. She was a 1949 graduate of Hamilton High School. On August 25, 1951 in Hamilton she married Calvin J Crouch Sr. He passed away on June 27, 1992. Mary Lou worked tirelessly at home and professionally- for Vantine Studios, Office for the Aging as activities coordinator, and as THE iconic hostess of the Colgate Inn for many years.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Hamilton, always standing up for those who needed an extra lift, and an active volunteer in the community at Community Memorial Hospital and Worn Again.
She was very creative, artistic, and was wonderful at baking, knitting and decorating. Those who knew Mary Lou, experienced her work ethic, get up and go drive, her comedic timing with her one-liners (she was a very funny lady), and the fun and adventure she brought along with her. Her family, protecting them and creating a loving home for them was her top priority, and never ceased.
Surviving are her children; Calvin “Punky” Crouch Jr. of Hubbardsville, Mary “Sis” Hinkson of Huntsville, AL., Craig “Butch” Crouch of Hamilton, Helen Louise “Holly” Crouch of Sherburne, Rochelle “Chelly” Crouch of Hamilton; a sister Sally Moyer of AR; two brothers and a sister-in- law, Michael and Trudy Sacco Jr., of Syracuse, Daniel Sacco of Watertown; her grandchildren, Mary Hesper Hinkson of Denver, CO., Trevor Hinkson of San Antonio, TX and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Jeanne Sacco Specht.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the care Mary Lou received at Waterville Residential Care Center. Once she broke everyone in and they all realized she ran her show- it was smooth sailing for her years there. WRCC became a home with family and friends.
