Richard W. Crandall, 84, of Spring Lake, NC, formerly of Earlville, NY and Ocala, FL, passed away Monday, June 10, 2019.
He was born May 12, 1935 in Norwich, NY, a son of Will and Hazel Lyon Crandall and was a graduate of Earlville High School. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1953, proudly serving for 20 years until his retirement in 1973. On July 3, 1954, Richard married Marjorie L. Hall in Waterville, NY. His military career took them to Missouri, Texas, Arkansas, and North Dakota. They returned to Earlville in 1973 where Richard owned and operated Crandall’s Lawnmower and Bicycle Repair until 1980 and Earlville Trucking from 1980 to 1983. Moving to Ocala, FL, he owned Ocala Wick, and also worked for Bi-Lo Sales until retiring. Marjorie predeceased him on June 9, 2006. Richard moved to Spring Lake in 2012 to be closer to his family.
Richard had been a member of the Earlville Baptist Church and was a member of the Earlville Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, Richard I. and Loraine Crandall of Spring Lake, NC; Will S. and Betty Crandall of Lincoln, NE; brother-in-law, Stanley (Carleen) Hall of Biloxi, MS; sister-in-law, Ann Marcellus of Earlville; grandchildren, Michael, Cheyenne, and Dakota; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Kathy Ann Kane on August 22, 1987.
Memorial Services will be held at 11am Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 3 Preston St., Earlville, followed by interment with military honors in the Graham Cemetery, Hubbardsville, NY.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 to 11am prior to the service.
