Richard J. Worwa

WATERVILLE: Richard J. “Lock” Worwa, 70, of Madison St., passed away at his home on January 29, 2023 with the love of his family around him.

He was born on September 5, 1952 in Utica, a son of Walter and Sophie Wrobel Worwa and was a 1970 graduate of Whitesboro High School. Richard was a die maker for Oneida Container which later became Tim-Bar Corporation in Vernon, retiring after 20 years of service. He was a fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He also served as a bartender for many years, enjoying the company of friends.

Surviving are his loving companion, Debra Johnson; his children, Tara (Steve Hajdasz) Griffin, Wade (Katelyn) Worwa, Kelli (Matt) St. Peter, all of Waterville and Jami (Andy) Danquer of New Hartford; brothers, David Worwa of Utica and Daniel Worwa of Whitesboro; his grandchildren, Sawyer, Landon, Emily, Jaxson, Kaitlyn, Matthew, Noah, and Hannah; and his canine companion, Trooper.

At Richard’s request, there will not be services or calling hours. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
