Rosemary E. Smith, 99, of Morrisville, NY, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Crouse Community Center.
She was born February 17, 1919 in Elmira, NY a daughter of Michael and Catherine Collins Sullivan. In 1941, she was one of the first class of women to graduate from the University of Rochester Dental School. After graduation, she went to work for the Rome State School as a dental hygienist, retiring after 31 years of service. Rosemary married Arnold Smith on June 16, 1943 and they had 65 years of marriage before Arnold predeceased her on June 20, 2008.
Rosemary was the oldest member of St. Joan of Arc Church in Morrisville.
Surviving are five nieces, Sheila (John) Riley of Berlin, CT; Pam (Denny) Schultz, Diane (Tom) Meehan, Connie (Dan) Hennessy and Kathleen (Rick) Peets, all of Rochester, NY; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews; a sister-in-law, Mil Smith of Rochester, NY; a devoted friend, Midge Herrick of Morrisville; a son, John and four grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Friday, August 31, at St. Joan of Arc Church, Morrisville, followed by interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hamilton, NY.
