Sandra M. Calvert

Sandra M. “Mama” Calvert, 69, of Pleasant Valley Rd., Sherburne, NY, passed away unexpectedly on January 12, 2022 at her home.
She was born on June 17, 1952 in New Berlin, NY a daughter of the late Henry and Vivian Thornton Hicks. She received her education in South New Berlin and New Berlin schools. On April 28, 1983, Sandra married Richard L. “Buck” Calvert in Sherburne. He predeceased her on March 26, 2015. Sandra had worked at Simmonds Precision in Norwich. Later, she was a private duty home health aide and also provided childcare in her home, as well as being a foster parent.
Sandy was a NY Yankees fan, an avid bowler, enjoyed crafting, BINGO, fishing, camping and garage sales. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Norwich. Her family was the light of her life and spending time with them was very precious to her. She also especially loved all of her animals.
Surviving are her children, Tammie Peck and Tom Brainerd of Unadilla; Loretta and Frank Fink of S. Plymouth; Victoria and Richard Peck of Sherburne; Rebecca and Steven Pratt of Whitney Point; Kari and Mike Natoli of Earlville and Kasandra Miner of Sherburne; a brother, Thomas Hicks of Smyrna; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren including Caiden Miner whom she raised; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her canine companion, Marley. She was predeceased by her sisters, Susie Schryber and Sheila Hicks; and her oldest grandson, Joshua Trask.
A Celebration of Sandra’s Life will be held from 4-6pm Thursday, January 20, 2022 at the American Legion Post #876, S. Main St., Sherburne.
Interment will be private at the convenience of her family.
