Stephen C. Hoffman, 77, of Old County Rd., Morrisville, NY, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2022 at Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich.
He was born on June 4, 1945 in Oneida, a son of the late Clarence and Mildred Hartjen Hoffman. He was a graduate of Morrisville-Eaton High School where he was a member of the basketball, baseball and track and field teams. He had also participated in the 4H program as a youth. Following graduation in 1963, Stephen went into farming with his parents and later started his own farm, Stepman Acres which he operated until he retired. In the fall of 1989, he met Rebecca B. Harosia while purchasing a wagon from her father. On August 11, 1990, they were united in marriage in St. Anne’s Church,Taberg, a loving union of 32 years. As a young adult, he enjoyed bowling and on numerous occasions he recalled throwing the ball up so hard it hit the ceiling. Despite that, he was a great bowler. He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and enjoyed taking rides through the countryside to see what was going on and always paid attention to the other farms in the area. He also had fond memories of exploring the Grand Canyon with his daughter, Stephanie. Stephen had a great sense of humor which his daughter referred to as “bullshititis” and at the end of a conversation with him many were laughing or had a smile on their face.
He was a member of the Peterboro United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his loving wife, Rebecca; his children, Stephanie and Justin Jackson of Idaho Falls, ID; CharlieAnna Hoffman (Shane Carolla) of Chittenango; SaraMarie Hoffman of Chittenango; Daniel and Kirstie Hoffman of Sherburne; grandchildren, Madison, Maddex, Mara, Morgan, Melody, Ashton, Lilian and Colton; many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Also surviving is his canine companion, Merlin. He was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Harriett and Richard McNamara.
Services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home,31 Cedar St., Morrisville, with interment in the Evergreen Cemetery, Erieville.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11am to 1pm prior to the service.
