Tyler Homer Keith, 22, of Waterville, passed away on May 22, 2022. Tyler, a Marine, was on active duty at Marine Corps Air Station in New River in Jacksonville, NC at the time of his passing.
Tyler was born April 19, 2000, in Utica the son of George and Laurie (Brown) Keith of Waterville. He grew up on our farm raising goats, helping with chores, going on hay deliveries, and planting corn with Dad for our neighbors and friends. Tyler loved board games and often bested his older siblings, and his chess game was a notch above. He was a chess champion at school, beating students, teachers, and administration on his way to the trophy each year. He graduated from Waterville Central School in 2018. Upon graduation, he joined the US Marine Corps and completed basic training at Parris Island, SC. He loved his work as an aviation mechanic and was deployed in 2021 when he was many different countries and people.
Tyler is survived by his parents; sisters, Victoria Merriman, Heather Keith, Alicia Simcoe, and Katharine Brown; brothers, Thaddeus Merriman, Jeremy Keith, and Jonathan Brown. He leaves many loving friends, aunts, uncles, cousins, and Marine family. We will see you in heaven for eternity.
Services with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 3 PM from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville, NY 13480.
A Reception to follow at the Clifford J. Fulmer American Legion Post # 92, 8083 Route 20, Sangerfield, NY 13455.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from Noon to 3 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
Tyler will be laid to rest at the convenience of the family.
Tyler was a warm, caring, funny young man and a loyal friend who will not be forgotten. Because Tyler struggled with depression, our family wants to support suicide awareness, education, and prevention. In lieu of flowers, we welcome your donations to “Giving Voice to Depression”. The family is also setting up a scholarship in Tyler’s name for students pursuing a career in agriculture, conservation, or military service. Donations are welcome to the scholarship and may be sent to Brothertown Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 454, Waterville, NY 13480.
