WERNER F. GOEDEKER

WATERVILLE: Werner F. Goedeker, 85, of Canning Factory Rd., passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Utica.
He was born in Germany on October 14, 1934, a son of Anton and Maria Konersmann Goedeker. In 1954, he came to the United States, settling in New York City. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served with the 101st Airborne Division. On February 8, 1964, Werner married Elfriede Jahn in New York City, a loving union of 55 years. Werner was a member of the Carpenters Union Local #608 in New York City. He had worked for Steinway Pianos and then did cabinetry and architectural millwork. In 1969, he bought a farm in Waterville and moved there in 1970. Werner loved his farm and enjoyed hunting, reading and doing crossword puzzles. He loved going to the Bouckville Antique Show every year searching for old tools that he refurbished and skillfully used while tinkering in his shop. He was also a history buff.
Werner was a communicant of St. Bernard’s Church in Waterville.
Surviving are his wife, Elfriede; his children, Werner F., Jr. and Hannalore Goedeker of Waterville; Walter A. and Cara Goedeker of Sangerfield; grandchildren, Christopher Goedeker of Lake Placid; Daniel Goedeker of Albany and Derek Goedeker of Laurens; a sister, Rita Erdtmann of Germany; a sister-in-law, Emma Goedeker of NJ; nephews, Bruno Goedeker Jr. of NJ; Michael Goedeker of Germany; Reiner Erdtmann of Germany; niece Ursula Erdtmann of Germany; many nieces and nephews; and with a special mention of Alexander Erdtmann, his great nephew, who was with him in his last moments. He was predeceased by two brothers, Walter and Bruno Goedeker.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville.
The family will receive friends at the conclusion of the service.
Interment is private at the convenience of his family.
