William "Bill" V. Abounader

ORISKANY FALLS: William “Bill” Victor Abounader died peacefully on January 9, 2023 in Utica, NY at the age of 69, after a courageous battle with diabetes.

Bill was born on October 9, 1953 in Utica, the son of Marcella C. and Albert A. Abounader. Born and raised Catholic, Bill attended Lady of Lourdes Grammar and Notre Dame High schools. He also attended SUNY at Delhi. Bill was known for his charisma which served him well during his career in sales. His jobs spanned from Florida to New England with companies that included PPG, Winn Dixie, Globe Amerada, and his family’s Sports Utility business. Bill was a passionate, lifelong Yankees and Giants fan and also loved golf.

Bill is survived by his mother, Marcella C. Abounader and brothers, Joseph A. Abounader of New York City and Thomas J. Abounader of Utica. He also leaves an abundance of friends across upstate NY including his best friends, Edward “Ted” L. Morris, Jr. and family of Oriskany Falls; and Mike Cline and family of Syracuse. He was predeceased by his father, Albert Abounader.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Monday, January 16, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Church, Main St., Oriskany Falls with Fr. Jason Hage as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in the spring.

Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 210 E. Main St., Waterville on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill’s memory can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
