William A. “Bill” Stradling, 86, of Eaton passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Community Memorial Hospital, Hamilton. He was born on October 8,1935 in DeRuyter to the late William H. and Hazel “Peg” Clark Stradling. He received his education in Georgetown Central School before going on to receive his Bachelors degree at Ithaca College. On October 9, 1954 Bill was united in marriage to Joyce Vandawalker in East Hamilton.
Bill was a cattle dealer both locally and all along the east coast for over 60 years. He also was an auctioneer and he owned and operated the Lazy S Livestock Market in Norwich for 43 years. He was a member of the New York State Cattle Dealer’s Association for many years and was a member of the Georgetown Baptist Church. Work was Bill’s life and he was also a dedicated family man.
Bill is survived by his wife, Joyce, a son, William Jr. (Cathryn) of Georgetown, a daughter, Deborah (Jeffrey) Newell of Pascoag, RI, a sister, Terri (Michael) Emrich of Erieville, NY, 7 grandchildren, Leanne Stradling, William J. (Angela) Stradling, Jennifer (Seth) Leavitt, Cathryn (Jonathan) Chabot, David (Amanda) Newell, Joshua Bardsley, and Elizabeth (Gregory) LaBossiere, 7 great grandchildren with 1 more on the way and 2 brother-in-laws, Philip Huss of Rochester, NY and Keith Martin of Boones Mill, VA.
He was predeceased by 2 sisters; Mary Huss and Sue Martin, a daughter, Donna Bardsley, a son, Thomas C. Stradling and a grandson Matthew Bardsley.
Friends are invited and may call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton, NY 13346 on Thursday, September 8, 2022 from 5 to 8 PM.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the funeral home followed by internment in Hillside Cemetery, Georgetown, NY.
